A blocked drain can quickly become disruptive, unpleasant and potentially damaging to your property.

In many cases, the first signs are slow-draining water, bad smells or gurgling noises from sinks, toilets or showers. If the blockage becomes worse, wastewater may start backing up into the property or external drains and manholes may begin to overflow.

Kwik Jet are a family-run drainage specialist with over 30 years’ experience. Our team use professional drainage equipment to clear blockages safely and effectively, including rodding, manual clearance and high pressure drain jetting where required.

If the same drain keeps blocking, we can also carry out a CCTV drain survey to investigate the pipework and identify the underlying cause.

Signs You May Have a Blocked Drain

You may need professional drain unblocking if you notice:

• Water draining away slowly
• Bad smells coming from drains or waste pipes
• Gurgling noises from sinks, toilets, baths or showers
• Wastewater backing up into the property
• External drains overflowing
• Manholes filling or overflowing
• Toilets struggling to flush properly
• Repeated blockages in the same area
• Damp patches, flooding or standing water around drains

If more than one fixture is affected, or the problem keeps returning, the blockage may be deeper within the drainage system.

How We Clear Blocked Drains

Blocked drain

Kwik Jet use the most appropriate method for the blockage, the pipework and the property.

Depending on the issue, this may include:

• Manual clearance for accessible blockages
• Drain rods for suitable pipework
• High pressure drain jetting for stubborn or deeper blockages
• CCTV drain surveys where the cause is unclear or recurring
• Maintenance recommendations for properties with repeated drainage issues

Our aim is to clear the immediate blockage and help you understand whether anything further is needed to reduce the risk of the problem coming back.

Rest assured we can get it sorted for you, quickly.

You can rely on our expert engineers to fix your drainage issues either by rodding or high pressure jetting. Special nozzles are used to cut through the grease and unblock whatever is causing the issue.

Kwik Jet can also help with blocked gullies, heavy grease build-up and blocked internal waste issues affecting basements, ground floor areas and shared drainage systems. If more than one fixture is affected, or wastewater is backing up inside the property, the issue may be further down the drainage system and may need professional clearance or CCTV inspection.

How to Help Prevent Blocked Drains

Some blockages happen because of deeper drainage issues, but many are caused by everyday items entering the drainage system.

To reduce the risk of blocked drains, avoid flushing or pouring the following into sinks, toilets and drains:

• Wet wipes, including wipes labelled as biodegradable, as not all biodegradable wipes are suitable for flushing
• Sanitary products, nappies, cotton pads and similar items
• Grease, fat and cooking oil, which can cool and harden inside pipework
• Cat litter, dog litter and pet waste products
• Food waste, coffee grounds and heavy grease build-up from kitchens

For commercial kitchens, restaurants and properties with repeated issues, regular drainage maintenance can help reduce the risk of heavy grease build-up, blocked gullies and internal waste blockages.
